Peabody Office Furniture, in partnership with Knoll and Adaptive Environments, launched the new design competition, called “A Place to Sit,” at an industry-wide gala. Entrants had four months to design and build a quarter-scale model of their concept for review and judging. Carol Catalano, Principle of Catalano Design won first place for her team’s office chair and stool concept entitled Mambo. The design accommodates a wide range of individual abilities and preferences in sitting positions, encourages movement, allows the user to tilt up to 15 degrees in any direction, gives feedback and educates the user about postures for supporting the natural curves of the spine.
